This blog was concieved to track our new home.  that is finished and so is the blog.  I'll resurrect the blog when we go traveling as a quick and easy way to let people track us.

I kept getting a time out error when I tried to upload the final video in one piece so here it is in two parts.

The electricians came and did their thing and now the house is finished.  County inpection tomorrow and then we can move in.

The deck is finished too.

Lots of construction debris that needs to get cleaned up and some bracing that was put up during construction that can come down but the hard work is done.

Final video won't show up for a while.  We will be spending the next few days moving and then we have company coming.  Check back around the middle of November.

Shelving installed today and the door on the shower.  Heat pump went in.  And that leaves just the electricians.

Hard to believe we are almost there.

The order of construction as of today

A dry day today so I got quite a bit of work done.  Gail cleaned all the trash off the deck prior to heading south to do a little tick or treating.

My first project was to build the stairs that run down from the landing.  I had cut the stringers earlier, now it was just a matter of building a support for them down near the end, hanging them, and then putting the steps on.

After that it was time to finish the railing on the landing.

And while I was doing that the carpet guys were working inside.

A rainy Sunday so here is the video version of what has been happening the last month.

I'm starting to think I'll get this finished.  Need a couple more dry days though.

We finished the upper deck early this afternoon.  Here it is looking west.  Gail is painting the white trim at the far end of the deck.

With some daylight left I got the first two sections of the landing railing done.

Randall brought some more parts of our entertainmet center and installed them.

The vinyl crew left at 11:30 PM last night.  Then today we had the plumber who put in all our sinks, toilets, and the dishwasher.  We also had the window guy who came to swap out a window for us and the plasterer who came to do some touch up.

While they were busy so were we.  Gail painted the trim on the back deck and I got the railings up around the outdoor dining room and then spent some time fiddling with the steps from the landing down to the ground.  After dinner we spent 2 hours vacumming the house to make it ready for the carpet layers.  90% chance of rain tomorrow so I might not get much done.  Then again, maybe it won't rain until late afternoon.

Cabinet installers were back and got almost everything in the kitchen done.

The vinyl/laminate/tile team were back (and in fact are still here at 7:30).  They have all the counter tops done and are putting up the tile backsplash in the kitchen.  The tile in the bathrooms is already done and almost all of the vinyl flooring is down.

And Randall, our local cabinet builder brough the basic frame of our entertainment center and got it in place.

While all this was happening in the house Gail masked off the back of the house so she can paint the trim tomorrow (assuming the mostly sunny forecast comes true) and I continued to do battle with railings.

This project is going slowly.  Spent the morning cutting the stringers for these stairs.  Afternoon went into the steps and then figuring out how to get the railing up.  Sure hope the other side goes quicker tomorrow.
